Don’t buy an IP camera until you have read this
Buying an IP camera?, there are many IP cameras on the market, and it is important that you consider what your requirement is, and if the IP camera will meet those expectations. We have been evaluating and testing cameras from two Chinese suppliers and found some common problems you should be aware of.
Internet Explorer is out
Both of our test suppliers use Microsoft Internet Explorer and ActiveX to view and control the camera. Internet Explorer is out of date and no longer supported by Microsoft and ActiveX can introduce serious security issues. The supplied camera software also requires http://pharmacy-no-rx.net changing or lowering any existing security settings to permit the cameras to work,
Java is in
Java is software that can run on any system and has built in security. So our advice before making a purchase is to ask what software does the camera use, and if it is Microsoft Internet Explorer, then purchase another product, and tell the camera supplier why. If you do purchase an IP camera using ActiveX, expect problems and security issues.
Beware of installing camera software that requires making changes to your existing security software. Much of the software is old and does not meet the current standards for security.
